Newsletter April 2020 now available

/10/20 You may be aware that several members of the staff at Rowlands Gill tested positive to Covid-19 this week, as a result the Rowlands Gill surgery has closed until Monday 5th October for a deep clean. The resulting reduced staffing levels across our team has increased the pressure on Grange Road, Crawcrook and Blaydon surgeries' phone lines and there may be a delay in responding to calls. If your call is non-urgent, please use the eConsult service on the website.

Please be assured that we have not had any incidences of Covid-19 amongst staff at Blaydon, Crawcrook and Grange Road. Thank you for your support and ongoing support.

*****FLU CLINICS****

Please see the dates and times below for flu clinics at the surgeries. Those who qualify are over 65’s, pregnant patients, younger children  and those with chronic diseases. Click on this link to see a more comprehensive list of those eligible

 https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/flu-influenza-vaccine/

Children at school will be vaccinated by the school nurses, the surgeries will see the 2 and 3 year olds, and any child with a chronic disease. Children will be given appointments with the Practice Nurse

Please note that people in the 50-64-year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine, and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first.  If you are 50-64 and you are in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier.

Please contact the surgery for an appointment. Making the clinics covid safe is a huge undertaking due to the number of patients needing a vaccine. You can help us by not attending more than a few minutes early for your appointment time to avoid overcrowding and wearing a face covering when inside the surgery building. Please note that we will not be able to address any other issue during a flu clinic as we have to keep the flow of patients moving through to avoid a build up of waiting patients.

We have received notification from the NHS England that as from immediate effect (13/3/20) we are to change face to face appointments to telephone appointments wherever possible in an effort to contain and limit the effect of the covid-19 coronavirus.

Patients who have appointments booked will be contacted by phone or text to advise that the appointment will go ahead at the same date and time but will be conducted via telephone, or cancelled if non urgent. Some patients are going to be need seen at the surgery and we will continue with this, although we will be keeping this to a minimum.

All routine, non-urgent appointments will be cancelled for example smears, routine reviews for chronic disease, smoking cessation and some medication reviews

This will put some pressure on the reception and phone system, but we will be doing our very best to keep disruption to a minimum, and appreciate your patience at this time.

Further information will be updated to the website as soon as it’s available.
